Parks & Facilities Part Time Year Round

Salary:
$8.75-$11.50 per hour DOQ

This is an hourly position that reports to the Superintendent of Parks and Facilities and the Parks and Facilities Supervisor.  This position is responsible for daily operations and maintenance of all open land space, facilities, and equipment in and around the York Center Park District.

Individual must be positive, organized, have an excellent work ethic, and be able to work on a wide range of projects and task.

Necessary Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, & Responsibilities 
Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid Illinois Driver’s License and able to pass background check and physical exam. High School graduate or General Education Degree (GED) is desired. Knowledge of vehicle mechanics and use of lawn mowers, tractors and other related field use equipment is preferred.  Successful candidate must be approachable and have good communication skills. Must be able to work with a positive attitude both independently or as part of a team.  Will work with the tools needed to maintain open lands, green space, indoor and outdoor athletic and recreation facilities, and office space. This position would work during the normal work week and weekends when required.  Be able to work in different environments such as heat and cold weather conditions.  

Area of responsibility includes:

  • Turf maintenance, landscaping, janitorial tasks, repairing and maintaining playground equipment, daily maintenance duties, ball field set up, and maintaining parks, and facilities.
  • Maintains Personal Protective equipment keeping it updated and safe.
  • Ability to work independently in day-to-day operations with general direction from the Superintendent of Parks and Facilities.
  • Provides training, coaching, directing, supervising and evaluating performance in areas of park maintenance.
  • Provides input into the decision-making process for hiring, disciplining, or terminating maintenance staff.
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned,
  • Willingness to work some evening and weekend hours is required.
